Quintine

Fleeing from the Citadel of the Dead, through dark webbed passages, the Questors hurried to find the safety of the Valley of Divine Light so they could bring about the true resurrection of Sir Keoghen. As she ran, Quintine Excavar reflected on what they had just experienced. Some sort of unexplained Divine eruption had replaced Vhazeil with a high elf called Gidor Elgyldor.

They prepare their spells, but the Part-Angel causes a rift and an Entroptic Enemy appears, but though it is quickly destroyed, the air was left with a hint of discontentment!

Dsc00855s

They step through, but as they enter the otherside, they have a little time to comprehend their surrounding, Vhazeil Son of Zaphkeil had disappeared and a voice comes, as if from out of no-where, a ballad of a song of Lliira, “the dance of life can go on forever, sometimes full of strife, but if we fight together we can defeat this evil and return to a way of peace!”

The Questors cannot see who sings, but he speaks, “I am invisible, but am here to help you, my name if Gidor Elgyldor, prepare to fight!”

A gift from the Gods! Not only is Jezrab Flinchal blessed with a wish spell but the party are also made aware of an important portal closing. On this advice they all travel to the Great Golden Room where they meet the aspect of Bahamut, offering them one last chance to leave the Demonweb without completing their quest, before the Portal to Arvondor is shut forever.

Summary

  • When Darkness is dispelled a large area can be seen populated by Undead Drow warriors, a Neo Priest, a Drow Captain and a Marilith.
  • Traveller and Baris head straight for the Marilith and bloody carnage ends with the death of the Marilith. But a Shadow Demon is also present. Moving through the Marilith’s Blade Barrier, the demon attacks Aibron, then leaves to help the Marilith. Too late!
  • The Shadow Demon drops into the floor and Baris runs for cover but succumbs to Drow poison and falls unconscious.
  • Aibron and Keoghen engage the drow captain, as a spectacular rescue attempt is attempted by the Questors to save Baris from death at the hands of the Drow. Jezrab casts a wall of force around him while Traveller flies over to him and picks him up.
  • The Darkness reappears and everyone in the area starts taking Vile Damage as they battle the Drow and wonder where the Shadow Demon is.
Quintine and Jezrab manage to dispel both the Darkness and the Blade Barrier and Aibron and Keoghen down the captain while Tippit wears down the Drow warriors with his Chain Lightning.
  • The darkness returns and with Vile Damage mounting, the Questors decide to flee the room.
Jumping through the Portal, they immediately realise that Aibron is not with them. Jezrab informs his friends that he thinks Aibron is possessed, as the usually noble fighter had just tried to attack him.
  • Quickly regrouping, the Questors return to the scene to save Aibron. They kill the four remaining Drow and Traveller and Keoghen manage to grapple Aibron in the darkness and pull him towards the portal. They arrive back in the Great Hall with Aibron himself once more, but all of the party are suffering heavily from Vile Damage. They make towards the Valley of Divine Light hoping to rest and replenish their strength before deciding what to do next.

    Further into darkness

In the old days they always used to say…..“Don’t split the party”
In recent times they still held by this dictum.
Now, in Gossamer, we find the that not much has changed.

    Summary

Inside the Room of Three Blessings, the Questors are attacked by nine undead neopriests on two fronts. Most questors follow Kane the Traveller, but Sir Keoghen charges by himself into a group of five priests that isolate him from his friends and lead to a very sudden (but honourable) death. Jezrab Flinchal‘s spectacular spring attack turns out to be less effective than his other magic. Tippit remains alive but is visibly shaken by the ferocity of the neopriest attack on the Paladin. Aibron Torromson continues to struggle against the creatures with his slashing weapon and Baris the Black laments his critical hit ineffectiveness against such creatures. Quintine Excavar is unable to prevent Keoghen’s demise, but bolsters her fellow adventurers with positive energy and good vibrations.

With the neopriests destroyed, the Questors travel to the Valley of Divine Light to replenish themselves. Jezrab’s help with a small mushroom harvest is much appreciated by Gerald Scarfe, as is Traveller’s storytelling technique. A new morning starts out with a failed attempt to investigate a portal that elicits an Entropic Enemy attack. Once destroyed, the attempt is repeated and Jezrab looks into the dark portal window of the armoury.

All is dark except for a Marilith dead ahead, sheathed in faerie fire about 50’ away. Looking carefully, Jezrab also notices three other pinpoints of faerie fire. Two undead drow outlined by Faerie Fire guard a passage to the right about 60’ away. Behind the Marilith, over 160’ away are two more groups of undead drow guards, about 100’ apart.

    Time to prepare…

    Summary

Leaving the bodies of the looted undead warrior drow of Eillistraee in the web strand, the Questors move quickly to the next intersection in the Demonweb. All seems quiet but when the party enter, three camouflaged sporebats fly from the roof and begin to attack. They are soon despatched, however, and the group look around the room to find three teleportation circles, a statue of Eillistraee and a pattern on the wall, which they discover to be a map.

With this in hand, they use the portal to arrive at the Room of Three Blessings. Finding a secret door, they discover magical writing which Traveller knows to be Doctrine of Eillistraee. When he reads it out aloud, a doorway opens and the party move through a series of triangular rooms until they come to one with a statue of Eillistraee draped in a silver chain with a Crescent Pendant. Jezrab identifies this to be a greater portal key, and when he puts it on, all doors in the system are opened. But the Questors face undead Neopriests on either side of them.
